NoLess // YesToday // Single Review

Local Melbourne five-piece NoLess have delivered a new track that you won’t stop playing. ‘YesToday’ leads an impressive five-track, self-titled record that will fit nicely into Melbourne’s hybrid jazz, hip-hop and neo-soul scene.

Beginning with front man Aiden Ryan’s clean-toned guitar and vocals, ‘YesToday’ invokes feelings of a lazy Sunday morning. Rachel Gleeson’s backing vocals come in smoothly with perfect harmonies and the soul to accompany Aiden’s. About a minute and 20 seconds in, the rhythm section brings the track to life with its droning keys, tight bass playing, and minimal jazz grooves.

Aiden unveils his hip-hop side to listeners in the second verse. It is hard not to move your body here with the tracks’ funky basslines and commanding horn section. Here he shares the story of life’s regrets, spending too much and fighting with yourself when you don’t feel like doing anything.

'YesToday' was produced by Moses Carr and recorded with Carlos Lindeberg at Plug Seven Studios in Fitzroy, Melbourne. These two creatives have had a profound impact on the sound of this song and the EP with quality mixing that will blow listeners away.

Keep an eye on these guys as they look to bring the Sunday morning vibes to a stage in Melbourne.

‘YesToday’ on NoLess' self-titled E.P is available everywhere now.
